Job Description
The Tech Author role will be responsible for ensuring that Product Documentation is kept up to date in line with all and any Product Updates – both functional and non-functional. This will include business user facing information on how to configure and use the Product, but also a level of technical documentation to allow clients to integrate with the system.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintain all outward facing self-service documentation.
- Maintain appropriate internal facing IT focused documentation for engineering and service functions.
- Create new content to cover new functionality/processes/branding and develop new/updated content with assistance from internal team members.
- Attend ongoing product release meetings to take part in conversations with internal stakeholders to address client and Product needs and concerns and follow-up with effective content and documentation.
- Develop and implement standards for product documentation including User Guides, Release Notes, Knowledge Base and other product documentation.
- Create and enhance the quality of existing written materials (boilerplates, tables, flowcharts, graphics, etc.) by providing editing to address grammar, professionalism, consistency, clarity, impact and overall customer focus consistent with company guidelines.
- Work cross-functionally to identify when old content requires an update based on new product functionality/processes/branding.
- Ensure that each department-generated document is customer-focused, clear, concise, compliant, consistent and in accordance with company and departmental guidelines.
- Work closely with Service Delivery function to ensure client feedback and issues are fed into documentation backlog.
- Provide status reports and progress updates including a clear and transparent content “road map” of content delivery for all releases.
- Ensure relevant departmental sign-offs are secured before final publishing.
Position Requirements:
- Experience in working in an Agile Scrum development environment.
- Experience writing both business facing and technology facing Product documentation for complex Enterprise grade software and applications.
- Experience with Confluence, Jira, MS Office, or other similar tools.
- Ability to work from Jira tickets and Confluence articles to construct necessary Product documentation.
